City Health Internacional is a network of individuals and organizations founded in 2012 engaged in the study of and response to health issues and health behaviors in the urban environment. This year, the central focus will be on the role cities play in developing and implementing initiatives to address global problems related to health and wellbeing. Because, despite the fact that cities are one of the major sources of these problems, they are also in the best position to address and solve them.

The program for this edition features presentations describing practical examples of policy initiatives, programs and projects that have been implemented to tackle these issues around the world. These conferences normally have a strong presence from the host city, this year reflecting Barcelona’s commitment to promoting the health and wellbeing of its many populations. In addition to being one of Europe’s most established ports and having a large, rich cultural mix, the Catalan capital has also had to face problems that have emerged on the back of the economic recession.

Previous editions of the conference have been held in Amsterdam, Glasgow and London, dealing with topics like equity, equality and inclusion. This year’s edition is hosted in Barcelona with generous support from the “la Caixa” Foundation and the presence of numerous experts from the health arena in Catalonia and the world. The registration period for the conferences is still open.
