15 hours to entertain and raise awareness of acquired spinal and brain damage

The nineteenth edition of La Marató de TV3 , hosted by journalist Albert Om and devoted to raising awareness of acquired spinal and brain damage, which drastically change the lives of those who suffer from them, kicked off yesterday at 10 am sharp. Organizers commented that this was possible by updating their original format, which combines entertainment and raising awareness and mobilized the public since 1992.

Throughout the 15 hours the program broadcast live, viewers learned about the personal experience of 22 people suffering from spinal or brain damage, as well as the physical, emotional and social difficulties they experience on a daily basis. Doctors Enric Cáceres, Miquel Àngel González-Viejo and Immaculada Bori de Fortuny, from Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron (Barcelona), and doctor Miquel Gallofré, from the Department of Health (Government of Catalonia), who are some of the top experts in the country on acquired spinal and brain damage, participated in the program.

Entertainment played an important role throughout the program with many well-known faces, including FC Barcelona players Gerard Piqué and Dani Alves.

Thanks to the La Marató de TV3, 535 biomedical research projects have been funded so far.
