This summer, the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (Barcelona GSE) will once again hold their Zvi Griliches Research Seminar in the Economics of Innovation to promote interaction among academic researchers, analysts, professionals and doctoral students interested in analyzing technological innovation policy from an economic point of view. The seminar combines internationally renowned keynote speakers with the presentation of a selection of leading research papers (the deadline to submit papers is 31 March).

This year’s seminar will devote special interest to innovation activities in the Spanish economy, the development of new analytical tools and the evaluation of current economic policy instruments.

Keynote Speakers 2011:

  • John von Reenen (London School of Economics)
  • Alfonso Gambardella (Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi)     
  • Fernando Galindo-Rueda (Senior economist and Head of Science and Technology Indicators Unit, Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry)

The seminar will be directed by Isabel Busom (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and Bruno Cassiman (IESE Business School).

Papers will be selected by a scientific committee made up of Isabel Busom, Bruno Cassiman and Andrea Fosfuri (Carlos III University). Submissions must be based on an original piece of research, finished or in progress, that covers any economic aspect of technological innovation.

Registration prices are €180 euros for the general public and €120 euros for co-authors of submitted papers. There will be no charge for students of the Barcelona GSE Economics of Science and Innovation program. The scientific committee will award a total of ten scholarships for doctoral students working on a thesis on the economy of innovation.
