In the framework of its program, the International Center for Scientific Debate (ICSD), driven by Biocat and Obra Social “la Caixa”, is hosting a strategic meeting on Type 1 diabetes: New treatments and strategies for the new decade on 18 and 19 November at the CosmoCaixa in Barcelona. This symposium, organized jointly by the ICSD, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the Center of Animal Biotechnology and Gene Therapy (CBATEG-UAB) and the CIBERDEM, aims to debate cutting-edge therapies and establish a strategic research plan to follow in the future.

The meeting will bring together a total of 25 expert speakers from the field and some thirty young researchers from around the world. The symposium also aims to encourage young scientists in attendance to carry out research into type 1 diabetes.

During the meeting, experts will debate stem-cell therapy, gene therapy, regenerative medicine and immunotherapy. Each session will incorporate a debate to facilitate interaction between the speakers and the other participants.
