The second edition of the Bioàgora conference, organized by Consorci Biopol'H, will be held on the 9th of November in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). The program features presentations and activities aimed at fomenting collaborations among investors, institutions, research centers, and companies in the arena of biomedical innovation and knowledge transfer.

The inaugural speech will be delivered by the mayor of L’Hospitalet, Núria Marín.

The morning session will feature four talks (in Catalan): Clusters, an Advantageous Environment for Companies, by Joan Bellavista of XPCAT; Investment in Bioclusters, the Case of MIT, by Mercè Balcells of the Harvard MIT Biomedical Engineering Center; Venture Capital in Catalonia and Europe: Similarities and Differences, by Josep Lluís Sanfeliu of Ysios Capital Partners; and Healthcare Innovation: a Business Opportunity, by Lluís Pareras of the Barcelona Medical Association.

The afternoon session will open with a roundtable discussion entitled Spin-offs: from Theory to Practice, featuring Elena Michelena (Innovación Legal), Juan Pérez (Technova La Salle), Joël J. Mairet (Ysios Capital Partners), Xavier Jaumejoan (ACC1Ó) and Lluís Ruíz (Janus Development). Following the roundtable, Juan Pérez will speak about innovation management and Martín Rivas Antón (Uninvest) will give a talk on the criteria that venture capitalists use to select projects.

The event will end with a closing speech by Biopol’H director Ramon López.
