Biocat, the entity that drives and promotes the life sciences and health innovation ecosystem in Catalonia, has launched its official channel on Bluesky, the new microblogging platform that is increasingly attracting users from the scientific and institutional world. The initiative reflects Biocat’s commitment to being where things happen, adapting to new channels where conversations, knowledge, and connections are generated—both within and beyond the Catalan BioRegion.

Biocat began its activity on Bluesky on March 31 under the profile @biocat.cat, where users can now find highlights from the sector, opportunities of interest for entrepreneurs and researchers, relevant events, and content about the programs led by the organization. These include d·HEALTH Barcelona, CRAASH Barcelona, the advanced therapies accelerator ATMP Catalyst, as well as healthcare adoption programs in Catalonia, among others.

Bluesky’s Strengths: Openness and Decentralization

Bluesky has captured attention with an ethical and open approach that promotes decentralization, user control over their algorithms, and the fight against misinformation, setting it apart from other social networks. The platform has gained popularity, particularly among professionals in science, technology, and academia, who value the quality of conversations and its open architecture.

With this move, Biocat reaffirms its commitment to public and community service, offering valuable content and strengthening its role as a driving and connecting force in Catalonia’s health and life sciences system.

Several entities in Catalonia’s scientific field are already present on Bluesky, including the Barcelona Science Park and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, as well as hospitals such as Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital Clínic, and Hospital Vall d’Hebron. Various researchers and professionals linked to the health innovation ecosystem are also active on the platform.

A New Phase in Biocat’s Digital Strategy

The arrival on Bluesky is part of a restructuring of Biocat’s social media strategy, which seeks to explore new platforms to adapt to the changing habits of its community. In line with this, Biocat has consolidated its X (formerly Twitter) account into a single multilingual channel, which can be followed under @biocat_bioregio, while maintaining its LinkedIn and Instagram profiles.

Follow Biocat in Bluesky

All professionals, organizations, and individuals interested in the health innovation ecosystem can follow Biocat’s activity through @biocat.cat and join the conversation. We look forward to seeing you there!
