Since the end of 2010, Biocat has participated in a new European alliance called the European Diagnostic Cluster Alliance (EDCA), devoted to driving innovation in the field of medical diagnostics with the following specific aims:
- Promoting competitiveness of European stakeholders mainly SMEs, in in vitro diagnostics, through networking and innovative partnerships.
- Fostering synergies and joint projects among all partners.
- Facilitating and accelerating access to non-European markets (particularly in North American and Asia).
- Driving the preeminent role of diagnostics in medical practice.
The EDCA was initially led by Euromediag, the diagnostic network of the Eurobiomed cluster (Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence-Alps-Côte d’Azur in France) and Wal-Dx, the in vitro diagnostics group in the BioWin health competitiveness cluster (Wallonia, Belgium). Later Biocat, Life Science Cluster Krakow (Krakow, Poland), Nexxus Scotland (Scotland), Oxfordshire Biotech Network (Oxford), Uppsala Bio (Sweden) and ZMDB (Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany), joined these two original clusters, and others are expected to be incorporated in the near future.
One of the network’s first actions has been to promote participation of companies from the member clusters in the Euromediag International Convention, a meeting consisting of presentations and B2B in the diagnostics field that will take place in Montpellier on 6 and 7 July. Companies and organizations from network member clusters will have special registration prices (40% discount).
Conditions for Catalan companies that wish to participate:
- Participation in session, talks and partnering: 300 euros
- Business presentations: 500 euros (additional)
Biocat, as a member of the network, will have a stand available for those from the BioRegion to use as a meeting point or to display graphic materials.
