Biocat searching for investable projects for first call in The Investment Readiness Series

The deadline for proposals is July 21 and those selected will be mentored and get the chance to present their project to investors for guidance and/or funding

Increasing the number of healthcare research projects ready to be invested in the BioRegion of Catalonia: this is the aim of The Investment Readiness Series, a new initiative from Biocat that offers individual mentoring for research projects and connects them with investors for guidance and/or funding.
The first call, open through July 21, is geared towards researchers, technology transfer offices, research centers and hospitals with early stage projects on highly innovative therapeutic compounds and/or strategies. The program is free and more than one project can be submitted per institution or head researcher.
The projects submitted to the call will be sent to a group of venture capitalists, venture builders and corporate investors collaborating as Biocat’s partners in this program. Based on their interests, the investors will select the finalists, which will get individual guidance. Finally, on 6 and 8 November, the finalists will participate in two days of meetings with roughly twenty investors, during which they will be able to present their project, get feedback and begin contact for possible investments.
Biocat expects to hold two calls for The Investment Readiness Series every year, each with a different theme. The program has the collaboration from Johnson & Johnson, Barcelona Tech City, Payment Innovation Hub, Catalan Biotechnology Reference Network, and ACCIÓ, and support from the “la Caixa” Foundation.
Proposals for the first call of The Investment Readiness Series can be submitted online through July 21.
