After five editions, Biospain has become the benchmark meeting point for the biotechnology sector in Spain and one of the most visited events in Europe. The 2012 edition will be held in Bilbao from 19 to 21 September.

The event is organized by the Spanish Association of Biotechnology Companies (Asebio), the Government of the Basque Country’s Society for Competitive Transformation (SPRI) and the BioBasque agency. Biocat is one of this year’s supporters and will participate with a booth in the exhibition area.

Biospain 2010 received 1,300 visitors from 25 countries (15% foreign), 665 companies (23% foreign) and 168 exhibitors (25% foreign). Of the total in 2012, visitors were mainly from Spain (77%), France (5%), United Kingdom (3.5%), United States (3%) and Germany (2%). However the growing interest in this event doesn’t stop there. More than 2,200 one-to-one partnering meetings put Biospain seventh on the global ranking for number of meetings held (according to data from Asebio).

Companies and research bodies from the BioRegion of Catalonia are eligible for a 15% discount on the price of a booth and registration for the congress, and Asebio members will have a 30-40% discount.
