The Catalan Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (CSIC-ICCC) has organized the second edition of its international competition CardioCOMIC. The initiative, led by researcher José Martínzez-González, is open to the public and is aimed at increasing public awareness on cardiovascular disease research and on the social impact, daily incidence, and prevention of these maladies.
As outlined in the competition guidelines, submitted comic strips must incorporate elements and concepts of the circulatory system and of cardiovascular diseases, and must underscore the consequences of these diseases and the importance of continuing research on them. The deadline for submission is 29 April 2011.
Winning comics will be published in both digital and print form. Prizes will be awarded in each of three age categories:
- Adults — €750
- Teens — €500
- Kids — €250
The contest is being funded by the Prous Institute for Biomedical Research, the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT), and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
