The deadline to apply for the Transbio grants to attend the sixth Summer School on Medicines (SSM6) has been extended through 20 June. The list of successful applicants for these grants, which 50% of registration costs, will be announced on 25 June. Standard registration is open through 30 June.

SSM6 will take place at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) from 6 to 11 July 2014. The program will focus on the drug-development process, from the pre-clinical phase through to market. Experts from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors will provide a global view of the procedures behind drugs on the market. SSM6 is geared towards masters or PhD students and postdocs, as well as professionals with years of experience in the field, and includes participation in an “Open Innovation Industrial Symposium” and a visit to the Almirall laboratories, among other activities.

Without the grant, registration is €300 euros for the program, which includes 40 classroom hours over the week, visits, class materials and lunches. Some of the topics that will be discussed in the training sessions include drug discovery, medical chemistry, toxicology and pre-clinical safety, patents, clinical development and market access.

SSM6 is jointly organized by the University Paul Sabatier - Toulouse III, CAPTOR Project – Investissement d’Avenir, INNABIOSANTE Foundation – Toulouse Cancer, University of Montreal, University Drug Research Group (GRUM), Biocat, Barcelona Science Park (PCB), CataloniaBio, Transbio Sudoe project, Foundation InnDEA Valencia, University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Biotech Cluster of the Balearic Islands (BIOIB) and Campus Vida.
