Director of the Institut de la Màcula i la Retina joins expert committee at European network EVICR.net
Over the past 12 years, Dr. Jordi Monés has dedicated his work to treating and researching macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular disease and vitreoretinal microsurgery.
The fifth EVICR.net Members Meeting was held last week in London, with the noteworthy presence of a Catalan doctor on one of the expert committees. Dr. Jordi Monés, ophthalmologist and director of the Macula and Retina Institute-Teknon Medical Center, has been chosen as a member of the expert committee on Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and other retinal diseases.
Over the past 12 years, Monés has devoted his career exclusively to treating and researching diseases of the macula, retina and vitreous humor. His areas of expertise include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular disease and vitreoretinal microsurgery.
Currently, the EVICR.net (European Vision Institute Clinical Research Network) has 72 members from 16 European countries. Of the seven Spanish members, four are from Catalonia: the Barraquer Ophthalmological Center (Barcelona), the Institute Catalan of Retina (Barcelona), the Institut de la Màcula i la Retina-Centre Mèdic Teknon (Barcelona) and the Josep Trueta University Hospital (Girona).? ?This network aims to guarantee quality and excellence in ophthalmological clinical research in line with European and international directives, to promote multi-centric clinical research studies in the European Union, to coordinate training activities for its members, and to act as a resource for the industry in promoting the development of new drugs and healthcare products.
