Montpellier is holding the first Euromediag International Convention (EIC 2011) on 6 and 7 July. This event brings together representatives from companies, research centers, patients’ associations and institutions to seek out and develop new in vitro diagnostic avenues to move toward personalized medicine in Europe.

The networking sessions and debates held will allow European stakeholders involved in developing biomarkers, translational medicine, personalized medicine and rheumatoid inflammatory diseases to expose and exchange their ideas.

The convention, organized by EuroMeDiag, includes participation from Biocat, as a member of the European Diagnostic Clusters Alliance (EDCA). The other members of this alliance are also participating: the diagnostic network of the Eurobiomed cluster (Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence-Alps-Cote d’Azur, in France); the in vitro diagnostic group of the BioWin health competitiveness cluster (Wallonia, Belgium); the Life Science Cluster Krakow (Krakow, Poland); Nexxus Scotland (Scotland); Oxfordshire Biotech Network (Oxford); Uppsala Bio (Sweden) and ZMDB (Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany). The EDCA was formally and legally established in Brussels on 30 June of this year.

Participants from Catalonia include biotech company Oryzon and Parc Taulí, which aim to find future partners for their international projects and present them to this diverse audience in the field of diagnostics. Oryzon Project Developer Dr. Marta Palicio has been invited to participate in the roundtable Biomarkers and translational medicine: new paradigms for personalized medicine, on the 7th at 9 am.

Biocat has promoted participation of Catalan companies in this event, providing information and guidance and offering their stand to delegates for meetings and as a showcase for their projects before the rest of the European participants.
