Final ETTBio session to feature three workshops on entrepreneurship and technology transfer

The second half of the session will be devoted to the BioEmprenedorXXI awards ceremony

On Wednesday 3 December, Biocat will hold an event including the regional closing session for the European ETTBio Effective Technology Transfer in Biotechnology project and the BioEmprenedorXXI awards ceremony.
The event will have two parts. The first will feature three workshops organized to accompany the final ETTBio report, dealing with several topics associated with entrepreneurship and technology transfer in the biotechnology sector. They will cover models of technology transfer offices and global trends; new collaboration models for innovation between the public and private sectors; and the training challenges in the life sciences, from academia to market. The event will feature experts like Thomas Crispeels, professor in the Department of Technology and Innovation at the Vrije Universiteit in Brussels; Pablo Cironi, head of technology transfer at the Center for Genomic Regulation; Luis Ruiz, CEO of Spherium Biomed; and Gabriel Capellà, head of the Government of Catalonia Health Research and Innovation Program.
ETTBio Effective Technology Transfer in Biotechnology, a European project in which Biocat is a partner, is funded by the European Union (ERDF - European Regional Development Fund) with support from the Interreg IVC program. This biotechnology-focused initiative analyzes the deficiencies in current policies and practices in order to identify possible exchanges of knowledge and best practices to allow for successful, effective technology transfer.
During the second part of the event, the bodies that promote the BioEmprenedorXXI program -Barcelona Activa, Biocat and the "la Caixa" Foundation- will give out the awards to the top three business initiatives submitted this year in the seventh edition of this program. BioEmprenedorXXI is an example of successful technology transfer and entrepreneurship in Catalonia, providing support, guidance and training to start up new companies in the field of the life sciences. Before the awards ceremony, the finalists will present their projects.
