First Andorran Biotechnology Forum kicks off
The event will be the first of several actions focusing on this sector
The Andorran Biotechnology Association (ANDBIO) is holding the first Andorran Biotechnology Forum in Escaldes-Engordany on 7 October. This event aims to create an environment that fosters synergies between universities, companies, associations and other organizations with links to the biotechnology sector. The forum is the first of several actions that the Principality of Andorra has launched to foster biotechnology in the country.
The first part of the forum deals with different topics related to the sector, like patent regulations, funding models and bioentrepreneuring experiences. The second part focuses on issues of bioethics, an expert view of the field of stem cells and entrepreneurship and business opportunities.
The program is comprised of eleven speakers and one panel discussion, with world-renowned experts like Magda Marquet, honorary president of ANDBIO, founder of Althea and Alma Life Sciences, and president of BIOCOM (California). Other noteworthy speakers include Francois Ferre, co-founder of Althea; Carlos Buesa, founder and CEO of Oryzon Genomics; and Augusto Silva, head of R&D at Althia Health.
Participation in the forum is free of charge but those interested must register online by 6 October.
