The Healthcare System Access Program (PASS) promoted by Biocat has brought four more innovative startups from the BioRegion of Catalonia into its Guidance Unit to test the service. They are acceXible, MiMARK, Time is Brain and OneChain

With projects focusing on early diagnosis of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, advanced therapies and treating complex pathologies, these new startups are joining current PASS Guidance Unit participants Able Human Motion, Doctomatic, GoodGut and Rob Surgical.

Led by a team from Biocat, with collaboration from AQuAS and CatSalut, the Unit offers personalized guidance for innovations on the Platform that have been prioritized by the System, as well as exclusive services like priority access to AQuAS assessments and programs in the ecosystem.

Who are these new companies taking part in the Guidance Unit?

Time is Brain

This startup aims to improve treatment of acute ischemic stroke using a technology platform that provides real time support for clinical decision-making.  Time is Brain hopes to reduce neurological aftereffects and boost patients’ survival rate.

OneChain Immunotherapeutics

Focused on developing gene therapies for minority diseases, OneChain Immunotherapeutics’ research opens doors to new therapeutic approaches with the potential to have a great impact.

Strategic support and guidance for growth

The Healthcare System Access Program (PASS), launched in May 2024, is a tool that helps streamline and facilitate access to the Catalan Healthcare System for innovation and technology by identifying, prioritizing and guiding innovation with the highest value and priority for the System. It is a groundbreaking project in Catalonia, with collaboration from AQuAS and the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut). The Guidance Unit is one of the program’s three services, alongside the Program and Tool Browser and the Innovation Platform.

This Unit offers personalized guidance for innovations on the Platform that have been prioritized by the healthcare system. For this purpose, CatSalut drew up a preliminary list of needs, which includes the following areas of action: improving predictive power, obesity and associated chronic illnesses, fragility, clinical complexity, polymedication and at home care, social and healthcare integration, diagnosis and treatment in the neurosciences, mental health and advanced therapies. The final list of priorities will be announced soon.

So far, four companies from the BioRegion of Catalonia - Able Human Motion, Doctomatic, GoodGut and Rob Surgical- have been testing the PASS Guidance Unit and you can hear about their experience here (watch video).
