Medical technology company Gem-Med won the tender to provide digital electrocardiograph machines (EKG) to 20 Siscat healthcare centers. The EKG digitalization project is part of the Digitalization of Medical Imaging in Catalonia Plan (PIMed), driven by the Department of Health (Government of Catalonia) in conjunction with the public body Red.es (part of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism).

Over the coming weeks, Gem-med will supply and install certified digital electrocardiograph machines according to the DICOM standards (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). Digitalizing EKG machines allows for improved patient care, as they will add electrocardiograph diagnoses to the patient’s medical history, which can be accessed through the Catalan Shared Clinical History (HC3) system.

Of the centers that applied for grants in the Department of Health call for proposals, the machines have been adjudicated to:
