In recent years, companies committed to innovation, hospitals and their corresponding research institutes have made a great effort to maximize the transfer of knowledge to society in the form of innovative new products and services, which not only has an impact on patients’ quality of life but also on the sustainability of our healthcare system.

Biocat and the Foundation for Health Sciences are organizing an event entitled How to fund innovation in health: Challenges and opportunities, on 20 November in Barcelona, which will address issues for reflection in order to facilitate the transformation of this knowledge into technology, and allow for this technology to be incorporated into the healthcare system, making business profit compatible with the feasibility of the system itself.

The opening of the event will feature Biocat CEO Dr. Montserrat Vendrell; Prof. José M Mato, general director of CIC bioGUNE and CIC biomaGUNE; and Dr. Marta Aymerich, head of Research and Innovation for the Government of Catalonia Health Department.

The event will be broken down into two thematic blocks, representing each of the groups involved: innovative companies, which are heterogeneous in size and origins, and the healthcare system, both as a generator of knowledge and as the body that purchases technology and defines policy. Speakers include:

The event is geared towards innovative companies, healthcare institutions, the public administration, researchers and R&D&i managers.
