The Spanish Association of Biotechnology Companies (Asebio) announced today the appointment of Jorge Barrero as deputy chairman. Barrero will work on strategic projects to support the president, Regina Revilla, and promote international relations of the association.

Jorge Barrero is a biochemist, Master in Science, Technology and Society from the University of Salamanca and has completed graduate studies in Pharmaceutical Management and Leadership in Governance at IESE Business School. From April 2008 until now, he has been general manager of the former Cabinet of Cristina Garmendia at the Minister of Science and Innovation, coordinating the Ministry's policy performance, and overseeing the public agenda, parliamentary activity and relations with the media.

Barrero was general secretary of Asebio during the period 2005 to 2008. Previously, he developed his career in strategic consulting in the biotechnology sector and public R+D.
