KIC InnoEnergy Iberia created in Barcelona
This new company has emerged from the knowledge network created by the top 10 companies in the energy sector and is driven by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

The creation of the company KIC InnoEnergy Iberia, SL in Barcelona last July cemented Catalonia’s participation in one of the three knowledge and innovation communities (KICs) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). InnoEnergy is one of the three KICs driven by the EIT, aiming to foster innovation and the impact on European economy and society in the field of sustainable energy. From now on, KIC InnoEnergy Iberia in Barcelona will be in charge of heading up the company’s activity in
Spain and Portugal, as well as managing the field of renewable energy on a European level.
The 10 partners in this new company are Ciemat, Energies de Portugal (EdP), Esade, Gas Natural Fenosa, Iberdrola, Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Technical Institute of Lisbon (IST), KIC InnoEnergy Iberia SE, Tecnalia Corporación Tecnológica and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
UPC Associate Dean for International Affairs Pedro Díez has been named president of the Board of Administration.
