The 2013 Manunet call for proposals to fund transnational R&D projects among companies (preferably SMEs), universities and research centers related with manufacturing technology is open now through 13 March 2013. Companies and organizations from arenas like ICT, environment, energy, knowledge engineering, biotechnology, etc. can submit proposals. However, the R&D projects must show a significant level of innovation, high scientific/technological risk and clear market orientation.
The consortia must include at least two SMEs from two different countries or regions. Participants this year are Germany, Asturias, Austria, Wallonia, Catalonia, Slovakia, Finland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Luxemburg, western Greece, the Basque Country, Switzerland and Turkey. A search engine for potential partners is available on the Manunet website.
The R&D projects must last two years and have a budget of between €150,000 and €250,000. Funding is through a subsidy: for small companies, 70% of the cost of research activities and 45% of development activities, and for medium-sized companies, 60% and 40%, respectively.
The Manunet initiative is organized by the European Eranet network and each region has a chosen body to assess, process and fund the part corresponding to companies. In Catalonia this body is ACC1Ó (the call is not yet open on their website). Before processing the proposal submission with ACC1Ó, this year, the UAB Research Park offers advisory, management and coordination services for SMEs from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) area interested in participating.
