More than 160 professionals confirmed in the ONCO Emergence Forum Barcelona

More than 160 professionals in the field of oncology have already confirmed their attendance at the ONCO Emergence Forum, the networking event co-organized by Biocat that will be held in Barcelona on June 21 and 22. All the activities are free of charge and the deadline for registration is June 11.
The ONCO Emergence Forum is geared towards researchers, postgraduate students, hospital staff, project managers, businesspeople and representatives from companies in the field of oncology, among others. The objective is to stimulate the creation of multidisciplinary consortiums, networks and collaborative projects in oncology capable of applying to calls from the European Commission and bilateral ones.
The congress will feature multidisciplinary plenary sessions and scientific sessions by speakers like Manel Esteller, director of the IDIBELL Cancer Epigenetics program; Joaquín Arribas, scientific director at the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO); Salvador Aznar, leader of the Stem Cells group at IRB Barcelona and recent recipient of an ERC Advanced Grant; Roger Gomis, leader of the Growth control and cancer metastasis group at IRB Barcelona; Roland Bugat, scientific coordinator of ONCONET SUDOE, Toulouse III Paul Sabatier University; José Manuel Nascimento, coordinator of the Medical Oncology Center at the University of Coimbra; and Laura Soucek, founder of Peptomyc.
Furthermore, to foster interaction among the various innovation stakeholders in oncology, the ONCO Emergence Forum will feature a partnering sessions. Those interested in participating must register as attendees to the congress, select their attendance to all the sessions marked on the agenda as "One2One meetings" and look for the desired meetings.
Posters and tech transfer proposals
On May 13, the call for scientific posters on studies or best practices in oncological research or clinical practice was closed. Fourteen have been selected. In regard to the tech transfer competition, on 13 May the call for applications was closed and a dozen European entrepreneurs, TTO and researchers were selected. Those who are developing new technologies from a research entity that is ready for licensing or those who have begun their development through a spinoff. The objective of this session is to promote alliances and generate collaborative projects of hospitals and academics to other interest groups. The selected participants will present their innovative projects in 6 minutes in front of a jury. The most successful idea will win 1,500 euros.
The ONCO Emergence Forum, which will be held at Fira Gran Vía in Barcelona, is part of the European project Onconet Sudoe, co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe program and with Biocat as a member, which was born with the aim of establishing a network of permanent excellence in oncology through the mobilization of health players from the south-western part of Europe around prevention, diagnosis, assistance and translational research.
