New chairman of the EIT Governing Board
Peter Olesen of Denmark takes over for Alexander von Gabain in the position
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has unanimously chosen the new chairman of its Governing Board: Peter Olesen. The Dane will take over for Alexander von Gabain in August 2014 when the latter’s six-year term ends.
Olesen said: “I am very much looking forward to taking on this challenge and continue to shape the EIT in its next growth stage.” He added, “Following the successful set up of the Institute and its first three KICs, the next few years will be decisive for the EIT as we continue to strengthen the activities of the existing KICs and expand our portfolio.”
The EIT currently has two calls open for new KIC: one on healthy living and active ageing and another on raw materials. The deadline for proposals is September. The InnoLIFE consortium, which has a workgroup in Catalonia led by Biocat and the Health University Barcelona Campus (HUBc), is preparing a bid for the KIC in healthy living and active ageing. Biocat is also participating in the group promoting Catalan participation in the KIC to be launched in 2016 called “Food4Future – sustainable supply chain from resources to consumers”.
