New investment portal to connect innovative projects and startups with scouts in Catalonia

Biocat has launched a new matchmaking portal, the Health Investment Portal, designed to accelerate licensing, co-development and funding deals in the life sciences and healthcare sector in Catalonia. This tool aims to showcase the innovations, giving investors direct access to promising projects without having to go through intermediaries like consultants.

The portal, which is a centralized space, helps organizations identify business opportunities in a unique, up-to-date way, making it the preferred gateway for investors and corporates looking for innovations in the sector. With various improvements geared towards optimizing interactions between innovative projects and startups and investors, it has become an essential tool for driving new collaborations and business.  

Some of the most noteworthy changes include:

• Smart, personalized searches: Thanks to an advanced algorithm, the portal prioritizes the best matches between startups and investors, taking into account the characteristics of each profile and search filters applied. 

• New filters: More fields have been added to the registry, including regulatory status, investment ticket size, type of co-development and other key data to allow for more precise searching that better suits the users’ needs.

• Centralized, integrated gateway: With just one login, users can browse several healthcare innovation communities in the BioRegion of Catalonia: Healthcare System Access Program (PASS), Advanced Therapies Network of Catalonia and the Health Investment Portal.

• Continuous updates and feedback: The innovators get information on any interest in their projects, including data on hits and notifications encouraging them to update their content and keep it up-to-date. 

After being validated by Biocat, users can explore opportunities on the portal at no charge, using an advanced filtering system that categorizes organizations and projects by type, sector, stage of development and other criteria.

These improvements consolidate the portal as an essential platform for connecting innovators with investors and companies, driving growth in the life sciences and healthcare sector in the BioRegion of Catalonia.  

More than 150 innovations

The tool currently features over 150 innovations, including 96 research projects and 64 startups and spinoffs from Catalonia. Plus, there are already 165 national and international scouts (investors and corporates) using the site, making it a key meeting point for business opportunities and collaborations to flourish.
