On Friday 20 June, an event at the Parliament of Catalonia brought an end to more than 15 days of activities on the program of this year’s Science, Technology and Innovation Fest 2014. This festival, which aims to bridge the gap between science and the people, highlighted the relationship between research and business. As a part of the activities in this festival, the Culture Institute of Barcelona Department of Creativity and Innovation, along with Biocat and 26 other organizations, held a session entitled "Research and business: collaborating to compete better" on Thursday 5 June at Disseny Hub Barcelona.

The closing event of the Science, Technology and Innovation Fest featured a presentation of the conclusions drawn during the session on research and business from contributions and the debate among participants representing organizations in the scientific and business arenas. These conclusions deal with issues like innovation to improve technology transfer in Catalonia, and bridging the gap between research and business through trust and professionalism. They also discussed social recognition for innovation and how to make Catalan society more aware and appreciative of innovation.
