President Mas to head mission to India with Catalan biopharmaceutical companies
The Catalan delegation will meet with benchmark companies and organizations like Advinus (Tata Group) and the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

ACCIÓ is organizing a mission to forge and foster business and institutional relationships between Catalonia and India from 23 to 29 November 2013 to the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The Catalan delegation will be headed up by President of the Government of Catalonia Artur Mas.
India is becoming a highly important emerging market for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries and is now twelfth in the world and fourth in Asia in the pharmaceutical products sector, with revenue of roughly €10,000 millions (69% from exports). In this country, biotechnology is a booming sector with great potential to attract national and international investment. Some years ago, India only had 30 large biotechnology companies and now there are 380 businesses with a joint turnover of approximately €3,000 millions.
The Catalan delegation will be made up of companies from Catalonia’s key economic sectors, one of which is the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector, which will have a specific agenda of meetings, seminars and networking events with Indian organizations:
- Visit and meeting with Indian companies: Anthem Biosciences, Dhanuka Laboratories, Piramal and Sun Pharma Advinus (Tata Group)
- B2B Forum with the Mumbai Pharmaceutical Association
- Presentation and panel discussion with the All India Biotech Association
- Visit to the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEP)
- Visit to the Biotechnology Society of India (University of Delhi)
- Meeting and panel discussion with the Society for Applied Biotechnology and the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises
