Salvador Maluquer, new general director of Barcelona Science Park
Maluquer’s appointment, taking over for scientist Fernando Albericio, was decided yesterday at the PCB Foundation Board meeting.

Economist Salvador Maluquer will be at the head of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), taking over for Fernando Albericio. This appointment is the result of yesterday’s meeting of the Barcelona Science Park Foundation Board, presided over by Rector of the University of Barcelona (UB) Dídac Ramírez.
Salvador Maluquer has a degree in Economics and Business from the University of Barcelona and an Executive Masters in Public Administration from Esade. From 1981 to present, he has pursued his career in the Government of Catalonia, where he has held various positions and responsibilities, including Director General of the Budget Office (2004-2012). He was formerly Head of the Technical Office of the Department of Universities, Research and Information Society (2000-2004) and Head of the Planning Division of the Directorate General of Economic Planning in the Ministry of Economics and Finance (1993-2000). He has also been a member of the governing bodies of different organizations within the public sector, such as the Consortium for the Construction, Equipment and Exploitation of a Synchrotron Light Laboratory (CELLS), the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park Consortium (PRBB), Barcelona’s Hospital Clínic, and the Catalan Institute of Finance (ICF), among others.
As an expert in budget management, regional development, European funds and policies to promote R&D, Salvador Maluquer has published several books and articles and has participated in teaching activities at the University of Barcelona as well as in other academic institutions.
President of the PCB Foundation Board Dídac Ramirez praised the outstanding work carried out by the previous general director, Dr. Fernando Albericio, and thanked him for his dedication over the years in which he held office (2005-2012) as well as his role in promoting this project. He also highlighted Dr. Albericio’s strong contribution to the creation of a network of science parks, on a Catalan, Spanish and international level, as well as his good management in the RedEmprendia, positioning the PCB as a global benchmark in dynamizing relationships between university, business and society.
