Sylvie Bove has been appointed as CEO of EIT Health. She was selected as the best candidate for the position by the members of the Supervisory Board and will in September. Bove is a French citizen and has 20 years experience managing and directing companies in the field of life sciences. She has overseen the launch of new products while working with large companies in the healthcare sector, such as Coloplast and Ferring Pharmaceuticals, and she helped found the Copenhagen Healthtech Cluster.

"I'm proud to be part of this organization, which aims to speed up the time it takes for research results to be available for patients", said Bove. "My aim is to contribute to the changes that need to be made to life sciences in Europe, in order to be able to face the challenges of the future more efficiently."

The EIT Health project was launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (the EIT), and is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) for health, healthy living and active aging. It was founded in December 2014 as a consortium with more than 50 core partners and 90 associate partners (one of which is Biocat) and it became a legal entity in July.

Bove's appointment coincided with the announcement made last week of a new Chairman for the Supervisory Board: Koenraad Debackere. Speaking about Sylvie Bove's appointment, Debackere highlighted her experience in multinationals and her broad network of contacts, which make her the perfect choice for the task that lies ahead.
