The UAB and The Corporació Parc Taulí organise a biomedical innovation forum
The meeting, next 11th of November, aims to communicate the processes in innovation in the biomedical sector succeeding in institutes surrounding the UAB.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Health and University Corporation Parc Taulí organise next 11th November 2011, the UAB-CIE Biomedical Innovation Forum. The objective of the meeting is to present the innovation processes applied to the biomedical sector succeeding in institutes surrounding the UAB. It will also discuss the opportunity in innovation in this area and how it reflects on the effects on reactivating the economy and job creation in Catalonia.
The event will boost the R&D&I aggregation process strengthening collaborations between basic research centres at UAB and affiliated university hospital research institutes. In order to make an optimal use of the clinical and translational research of the UAB surroundings, and under the framework of the Campus of International Excellence, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona proposes a variety of joint research projects, strives for constant transfer of knowledge and technology, and the creation of innovation-based businesses, with the aim of being an internationally leading university.
The forum will open at 9am with Anna Ripoll, UAB rector; Manuel Bustos, mayor of Sabadell; Miquel Vilardell, president of the Official Medical School of Barcelona, Pere Fonolleda, president of the Board of Governors of the Health and University Corporation Parc Taulí, and Lluís Tort, UAB-CEI biocluster coordinator.
After the opening act, the Coordinator of the Spanish Forum for Innovation in Health Technology, Ángel Lanuza, will make the lecture Innovation in health technology, vector of economic growth. From 10am to 12 noon biomedical innovations cases will be presented. A round table will follow, from 12:45 pm to 2pm, with the participation of the director of Research at the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Marta Aymerich; Biocat CEO, Montserrat Vendrell, and the director of the Health Institute Carlos III, José Jerónimo Navas Palacios.
The general manager of Research at the Ministry of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Josep Maria Martorell, will close the event.
