The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) has opened the 2013 call of the programa Icomed (Incoming Fellowships in Biomedicine) to attract highly qualified scientists from around the world in the areas of biomedicine and clinical medicine.

Fellows taking part in the Incomed programme will benefit from an advanced scientific training programme that includes individual research training, scientific and technology courses, and scientific and financial management of the research project. They will also benefit from career development activities that will include the membership in the VHIR postdoctoral committee, presentation of results at VHIR and international scientific conferences, and participation in laboratory and journal clubs.

Candidates must hold a PhD Degree, have at least one publication as first author and must not have lived, worked or studied in Spain for more than 12 months in the past three years.

Applicants should complete and submit the online form before November 30th 2013.

Created in 1994, VHIR belongs to the Catalan Institute of Health and the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, the largest in Catalonia and one of the most important in Spain. It is also associated with the Autonomous University of Barcelona International Campus of Excellence.

The VHIR has 60 research groups and more than 1,200 professionals carrying out research in areas like oncology, cardiovascular disease, endocrinology and nephrology, and neuroscience, among others. In 2013, they inaugurated a new space for clinical research to conduct 350 trials each year.
