The ABCEurope project (Advanced Biotech Cluster Platforms for Europe), promoted by the European Council of Bioregions (CEBR) and in which the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) participates, is organising the Matchmaking Virtual-Oncology event so that the life-science enterprises may make contact with the SMEs of innovative technologies in the field of oncology and thus reach potential agreements of collaboration and concession of licences.

The purpose of ABCEurope, a three-year project (2009-2012), is to promote and improve the interrelations and associations between the bioclusters and among their enterprises. The project brings together 13 partners from the strongest in Europe in biotechnology with representatives form bioregions of Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain —there is a single partner which is the Barcelona Science Park representing the Bioregion of Catalonia—, France, Hungary, Italy, Israel, United Kingdom and Sweden. It is financed by the European Union within the 7th Framework Program and has a budget of € 3.5 million.

The enterprises from the area of life sciences that are registered in the encounter, which will take place on the dates of 13 and 14 February 2012, will benefit from a virtual intermediation area —by means of one-to-one videoconferences, Skype or telephone— and they can hold meetings with 29 SMEs leaders in new technologies, in an effective and low-cost manner. Of the 29 SMEs, five are Catalan:
