The Catalan delegation, which is made up of 46 companies and institutions and 80 other delegates from the biotech sector in the BioRegion, was welcomed this morning by the President of the Government of Catalonia and the Catalan Minister of Health at the Palau de la Generalitat.

During his speech, the President of the Government of Catalonia stressed the importance of the healthcare sector, “a sector with a mission, which is to defend life and improve people’s health. It is a sector which is the answer to what the future path should be. It is also a sector in Catalonia with important projects and figures that make the BioRegion a leading ecosystem”, he added. He then mentioned the BioRegion Report published by Biocat, whose CEO, Robert Fabregat, and executive team, who will also travel to Boston, attended the reception. He concluded his speech wishing for “a return in the guise of new projects, new investments and better health”.

The Catalan Minister of Health, who will lead the BioRegion's delegation, also wanted to stress the Government's wish to “support this international relationship of growth in a field where we are at a time of changes, such as the use of ICT and advanced therapies where biotech is an essential future bid to improve people's quality of life”. He also wanted to note that Catalonia has the conditions to attract and retain talent and add new tools and extremely highly trained professionals.

Just as in previous editions, a variety of parallel activities and events are also being held at the convention to encourage connections and help the Catalan representatives partner with international stakeholders.
