For the second year in a row, Barcelona is preparing to host the Redefining Early Stage Investments (RESI) Europe Barcelona international congress. It will take place from April 1 to 3, 2025, with the first day in person at the InterContinental Barcelona hotel and the other two online. This event, organized by Life Science Nation (LSN) in collaboration with Biocat, the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia, has cemented its place as a not-to-be-missed event for startups and scaleups in the sector.

The first edition, held last June, brought together more than 450 participants from nearly 350 companies around the world. Catalan participation was remarkable, highlighting the region’s importance as a hub of innovation in healthcare. This year, it is expected to exceed that figure, with a hundred investment firms and corporate funds from around the world, mainly from Europe and the United States, that have already confirmed they will attend.

One of the highlights of the congress will once again be the Innovator Pitch Challenge (IPC), where 14 Catalan companies get to pitch their projects to specialized investors and forge strategic connections. These include Admit Therapeutics, Ahead Therapeutics, Anaconda BioMed, Cebiotex, Ephion Health, Flomics, GAT BIOSCIENCES, Miwendo, Mowoot, Nimble Diagnostics, Point Pressure, Robopedics, Telara Pharma and Time is Brain.

In the first edition, three Catalan companies -Gate2Brain, Ysotope Theranostics and DyCare - were chosen from more than 42 participating companies to win Innovator’s Pitch Challenge awards.

How do the Innovator’s Pitch Challenge (IPC) awards work?

To encourage participation and support the most promising companies taking part in the Innovator’s Pitch Challenge (IPC), each registered participant at RESI gets 5 “RESI Cash” vouchers when they sign in.

These vouchers can be used to “invest” in the IPC finalists they consider most attractive, assessing their potential and impact on the sector.

When all the votes are in, the total investment each company received is totaled, and the three companies with the most “RESI Cash” are announced at the IPC Awards ceremony and given the following awards:

  • 1st Prize – Valued at € 12.000
The winning company receives free tickets for three RESI events of their choice. They can get up to two tickets per event, giving representatives access to exclusive networking spaces and the chance to forge new connections in the sector.
  • 2nd Prize – Valued at € 8.000
The company with the second most votes gets free tickets to two RESI events of their choice, with a maximum of two tickets per event, to make the most of business opportunities and visibility.
  • 3rd Prize – Valued at € 4.000
The company in third place gets to attend one RESI event of their choice for free, with up to two tickets available, giving them access to the community of sector leaders and investors.

Panel discussion on healthtech market access

RESI Europe 2025 isn’t just about investment, it’s also a place to forge strategic partnerships and accelerate healthcare innovation. Participants have access not only to exclusive meetings with investors, but also to training sessions, panel discussions and workshops on the latest market trends and best practices for startups and entrepreneurs.

One of the highlights of RESI Europe Barcelona 2025 will be the panel discussion on market access in the healthtech sector. This session will bring together industry experts to address the main challenges and strategies for marketing healthcare technologies. It will look at key aspects like regulatory hurdles, coding, reimbursement and adoption pathways, as well as the growing role of digital tools and data analysis in the healthcare ecosystem.

Moderated by Doctomatic CEO Carmen Ríos, speakers will include Catalan Ministry of Health Chief Health Innovation Strategist Ramon Maspons, Avania VP for Market Access Meike Bomhof, Neuroelectronics CEO Ana Maiques, and Asphalion Medical Device Manager and Lead Auditor Francisco Rodriguez

Partnering platform, key tool for startups

One of the greatest attractions of RESI Europe Barcelona is its partnering platform, which lets startups explore investor profiles, discover their interests and preferences, and schedule meetings with the ones that best suit their sector and phase of development. It is already available so startups can start scheduling meetings, making sure they have highly productive, high impact interactions.

To help companies make the most of this resource, the organization offers online sessions beforehand, as well as an exclusive webinar with investors revealing the technologies and projects the market is currently most interested in. These initiatives ensure each participant arrives at the congress with a clear strategy, ready to make the most of each meeting.

Don’t miss out on this unique chance to connect with international investors and take your startup to the next level.
