The ‘Barcelona Health Innovation Week 2025’ has concluded its third edition with record participation and a packed schedule of activities that positioned the BioRegion of Catalonia at the epicenter of health innovation for an entire week. This year, 55 activities were organized on health innovation, research, entrepreneurship, funding, and new health technologies—an ever-growing figure (2023: 20 activities; 2024: 43 activities).

The sessions were organized by 52 different entities from the sector, bringing together more than 3,250 professionals across Barcelona and its metropolitan area from February 17 to 21. Hospitals, research institutes, technology centers, specialized consultancies, industry associations, and startups and scaleups in the sector were the main promoters of this initiative, led by Biocat for the third consecutive year.

The most attended activities focused on digital health, artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, advanced therapies, regulation, and science. Visits to centers, major announcements, and program closures also received a great response. Overall, all events aimed to highlight the richness and diversity of Catalonia’s life sciences and healthcare ecosystem.

Biocat's Key Role in This Third Edition

This year's edition featured the prominent participation of Biocat, which played a leading role in driving various initiatives throughout the week. One of the key moments was the presentation of the BioRegion of Catalonia Report 2024, where the main health innovation indicators of Catalonia were unveiled in a commemorative event that brought together over 1,100 attendees. Another major highlight was the presentation of BIOSPAIN 2025 by AseBio and Biocat—an especially significant announcement for the ecosystem. The next edition of this flagship biotechnology event will take place in Barcelona this October, with the city also set to host it again in 2027 and 2029.
