At the closing of this year’s event in Basel, Biocat Director of Science Policy and Internationalization Montserrat Daban, as the representative of the next host city, received the baton from: Anna Chrisman, managing director for Pharma and Life Sciences at Informa Connect; Omar C., BD&L Partnering Director at Novartis; and Avaleigh Milne, head of Business Development for Pharma Research and Early Development at Roche.

“Catalonia and Barcelona are posting record economic and innovation indicators, and we’ve seen all-time records in funding. We invite you all to experience this vibrant environment first hand and discover Barcelona and Catalonia, one of the main life sciences and healthcare innovation hubs in Europe,” said the Biocat Director of Science Policy and Internationalization when picking up the baton.

At the event organized in Basel, which just closed its doors, there were 101 exhibitors, roughly 3,400 participants and over 17,000 one-to-one meetings. The significant Catalan presence is worth noting, with 30 companies and organizations from the BioRegion ecosystem, including sector benchmarks like Almirall, Esteve and Reig Jofre, among others.

In addition to having their own space that was a gathering and support point for the Catalan delegation and for spreading the word about the BioRegion internationally, Biocat also took part in the panel discussion titled ‘Biomanufacturing in Europe. What’s next?’ with Montserrat Daban moderating the event.
