Barcelona, host of the most important international industry conferences in the coming months
After the holidays, Barcelona will be abuzz with major conferences in the biotech, pharma, tecmed and digital health sectors, attracting thousands of executives and professionals from Europe, America and Asia. These conferences will create new business opportunities, foster connections and offer insights into potential investments for the ecosystem.
Among the most prominent events in the sector that have chosen Barcelona as their venue in 2023 are LSI Europe, BIOSPAIN, and CPHI. In addition, the first quarter of 2024 will see the return of MWC and 4YFN (with a clear focus on digital health this year), as well as BIO-EUROPE SPRING, which will return to Barcelona for the fourth time since 2010. At the same time, numerous sectoral activities with an international character will be hosted by local players, further enriching the agenda of the health business, research and innovation community in the BioRegion. These include the Barcelona Health Innovation Week, the Barcelona Tech Spirit, the X-Patient Congress, and the Health Revolution Congress.
The LSI Barcelona Emerging Medtech Summit, taking place September 18-22, will be the first event of the month. This American partnership meeting will bring together influential leaders in MedTech and innovation with professionals from investment groups. The panelists and program content are very interesting, and it is worth mentioning that BioRegion companies and institutions can benefit from a discount by following the instructions on our website.
During the week of September 25th, BIOSPAIN Barcelona, organized by AseBio in collaboration with Biocat, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the City of Barcelona, will take center stage. This year, it is setting new records in terms of registrations, participating companies and international delegations. With around 200 exhibitors and more than 2,000 visitors expected, the event will feature four days of more than 40 conferences, company presentations, networking activities and an exhibition. There will also be a pavilion dedicated to the BioRegion of Catalonia. For those who haven't yet registered, there is still time to take advantage of the discount offered to companies and research projects from the BioRegion.
In October, Barcelona will host CPHI, the world's largest pharmaceutical exhibition. With around 1,800 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors from 167 countries, this event attracts leading pharmaceutical companies, drug developers, consultants, service providers and innovative players in the pharmaceutical industry. The conference will also serve as a platform for discussions on the key challenges facing the sector in the future. Later in the same month, the World Orphan Drug Congress will convene, establishing itself as the most important meeting focused on rare diseases and orphan drugs. Now in its 14th edition, the event will feature more than 1,000 exhibitors and 300 speakers discussing topics such as regulation, pricing policy, and gene therapies. For companies and institutions within the Catalonia BioRegion, attendance is free of charge by completing this form, offering a valuable opportunity.
Moving on to November, we highlight the workshop "Computational Models of Life: From Molecular Biology to Digital Twins" scheduled from November 29th to December 1st in San Feliu de Guíxols. Organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centre Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) with the support of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), this event will host lectures and roundtables on topics like metabolic diseases (including diabetes and obesity), cancer and inflammation, hypoxia, starvation, cancer microenvironment and inflammation, and effects of anti-metabolic drugs on tumor cells. The presence of the entrepreneurial and business community is highly desired, and there is an early bird registration option available until September 20.
Last but certainly not least, Clinical Trials Europe will take place at the end of November, also in Barcelona, at the CCIB. It will offer attendees a unique opportunity to learn firsthand from clinical professionals about the future of clinical trials. This year's conference will focus on three main areas: subcontracting, operations, and technology and innovation.
