Biocat has opened the call to take part in the 8th edition of CRAASH Barcelona, a program designed to accelerate health innovations toward commercialization and clinical implementation. Thanks to the success of the previous editions, there are more spots for projects and startups to participate this year, with eight teams developing medical devices, digital health and diagnostics at technology readiness levels (TRL) 3 to 6.

This eighth edition, set to begin on September 8, 2025, will offer training in intellectual property, regulatory frameworks, market access and communication skills, as well as mentoring from CIMIT experts and knowledge of health innovation ecosystems in Europe and the United States.

The program will kick off with in-person sessions introducing the teams, scheduled for September 8 to 10, followed by online mentoring and acceleration sessions. Later, in mid-October, Barcelona Week will bring all the program activities to the Catalan capital for a week, allowing the working groups to share their progress and forge synergies among the projects.

Boosting pediatric innovation

One of the main changes in this edition of CRAASH Barcelona is the strategic collaboration with i4KIDS, the pediatric innovation hub coordinated by Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona.

This partnership aims to drive innovation in fetal, pediatric and maternal health, ensuring the program includes at least one project working in this field, which is still facing major challenges and unmet clinical needs that significantly impact the wellbeing of children and their families.
