Since its launch in 2007, the Charité Entrepreneurship Summit has become an international business/science event that brings together experts, researchers heads of Business Development, industrial property lawyers, entrepreneurs, business angels and investors from around Europe and the United States. The fourth edition of this event is being held on 11 and 12 April, at the Allianz Stiftungsforum in Berlin (Germany).

Some of the most noteworthy names at this year’s event, in terms of Keynote Speakers, included Peter Thiel, one of the most successful investors in Silicon Valley, co-founder of PayPal and investor in Facebook (in the early stages); Peer Schatz, a “serial” entrepreneur and head of Qiagen GmBH since 1993; S. Hanson Gifford, partner and general manager of Foundry LLC, a prolific inventor and creator of one of the main medical device incubators in the United States; and Axel Ullrich, a renowned German biochemist and one of the most successful biotechnology entrepreneurs in his country.

The Charité Entrepreneurship Summit is a good opportunity to network. Dr. Ramon Maspons , in representation of Biocat, has been invited to participate in a round table entitled Medical City, which will take place this afternoon from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Maspons is an export in research valorization, innovation at hospitals and competitive intelligence, and participates regularly in discussions and debates around the world.

In addition to the program of conferences, the event includes a partnering session, where selected entrepreneurs from the fields of biomedicine and medical technology present their ideas to potential investors; a Business Speed Dating session, where scientists and doctors with a business idea can try to capture new talent from among the university and MBA graduates and experienced businesspeople, so they can contribute their viewpoint; and an Unsolved Clinical Problems session, where doctors and scientists share their ideas on unsolved clinical problems —the topic this year is radiology and virology— with industry representatives, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists in a confidential environment in order to get valuable feedback and foster future collaboration.
