German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, with a subsidiary in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona), and the Ashoka Changemakers network for social enterprising are organizing a competition to create new business models to transform current health systems. The award for the winners consists of €65,000 and support from Boehringer Ingelheim in carrying out the development of the innovative project.
The online competition is called Transforming health systems: business models to change the game and aims to find innovative corporate projects capable of solving various kinds of problems in health systems around the world. Additionally, however, the contest also seeks out business models that can address issues appearing in emerging countries.
Boehringer Ingelheim Vice-President for southern Europe Jean Scheftsik de Szolnok argues in favour of the competition, saying that “health systems introduced in mature markets have not been properly designed to promote collaboration among key stakeholders” and that “often, the imbalanced initiatives of the system are not capable of providing any real value for patients and society. To solve this problem, business models with an innovative perspective are urgently needed.”
Organizations and people interested in this project can check out the terms and conditions through 10 April: http://www.changemakers.com/es/innovasalud.
