The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will recognize the work of the 10 most noteworthy young innovators from Spain (or resident foreigners) under the age of 35. This is the first edition of the TR35 Spain awards (there is also an American version), which covers a wide range of sectors including biotechnology, development of new materials, computer hardware, energy, transport and the Internet. Innovator of the Year and Solidary Innovator of the Year will be chosen from the ten finalists.

"We are looking for people whose activity in one of these areas has great promise for the coming decades," explained the organizers of these awards. The aim is to recognize the development of new technology or the application of already existing technology to solve current problems.

The TR35 Spain awards are being organized by Opinno, Open Innovation, with sponsorship from BBVA.

The 2010 winners of TR35 Global were David Kobia (Ushahidi, 2010), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook, 2007), Sergey Brin (Google, 2002) and Danah Boyd (Microsoft, 2010).
