The call for the Innocash Program 2011 —regarding the financing phase— is open until 30 April 2012 and has a total budget of  €8 million. It is promoted by the Spanish Government and the entity that manages it is Genoma España.

This program has an assessment phase —the 2011 call is already closed— which consists of capturing and selecting innovative technologies. A technological dossier is then prepared, the result of a documentary assessment process from the technical as well as economic viewpoint, and this is used to attract private investment in order to develop innovative projects.

The financing phase of innovative projects, which may or may not come from the assessment phase, consists of giving loans to companies with a technological base or economic interest groupings (EIG) of Spain so they may advance their projects in biotechnology, nanotechnology, health, ICT, energy and climate change. The project's budget must be between €500,000 and €5 millions and be executed in a period of 12 to 36 months. The amount of the loan granted will not surpass 50% of the expenses (with a maximum of €1 million).

Histocell, CSIC and Hospital Clínic of Barcelona have received support for cell therapy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
