Ignasi Belda
He is a computer scientist with a PhD in artificial intelligence for drug discovery and a PhD in tax law. He has founded or co-funded six healthcare startups in Spain and the world and served as CEO of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) for two years. He is currently CEO of MiWEndo Solutions.
MiWEndo Solutions is a spinoff of the UPF, UPC, ICREA and Hospital Clinic Barcelona that was founded in 2013 to automatize early detection of colorectal cancer using an electromagnetic device that differentiates between benign and malignant tissue.
The spinoff, which just secured €900,000 from the European Union to begin clinical-phase trials, has patented its device in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, United States and Japan.
