“It’s important to understand the problem before you go looking for a solution”

Koa Health is a spinoff of Telefónica that offers digital solutions for mental wellbeing. It has raised more than any other digital health startup in the BioRegion, or anywhere else in Spain, after closing a €30-million round of funding (in 2020 and 2021). 

The company has two products: Koa Foundations, an app that helps organizations support their employees with a library of activities, and Koa Mindset, a solution for patients with anxiety to help them control the condition. Both products use digital technology to adapt to each user’s symptoms and personal characteristics. Koa Health is one of the 30 digital therapeutics companies in the BioRegion. 

In this interview, Koa Health Chief Product Officer Stephen Dunne explains what led him to become an entrepreneur, the best advice he has ever received and the company’s goals for the coming years.
