BIO 2024, with noteworthy Catalan presence, gathers best of global biotechnology in San Diego
From June 3 to 6, 2024, some thirty Catalan companies and organizations will be at the BIO International Convention, considered the most important international partnering event in the biotechnology sector. They make up 40% of the Spanish delegation.
The San Diego Convention Center in California will host the BIO International Convention from June 3 to 6, 2024. This event, considered the most important international partnering event in the biotechnology sector, will bring together more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions and other key stakeholders from over 37 countries to forge collaboration agreements, strategic partnerships and business opportunities.
One highlight this year is the BioRegion of Catalonia, which will have an important presence at this edition. A total of 30 Catalan companies and organizations will be taking part in the event, showcasing the potential and innovation of Catalan biotechnology to the world. This presence makes up more than 40% of the Spanish delegation in the Spain Pavilion, reflecting Catalonia’s leadership in the biotechnology subsector.
Some highlights from the Catalan delegation include companies like Ability Pharmaceuticals, CYTES Biotechnologies, Minoryx Therapeutics, AHEAD THERAPEUTICS, ELEM Biotech, Neuraxpharm, and many more with booths in the Spain and Europe pavilions.
Plus, the convention features a series of interesting sessions, including one on Monday, June 3 called Building Capacities in the Industry for Secondary Uses of Health Data. This session, moderated by Biocat Strategic Foresight and International Relations Director and President of the Council of European BioRegions (CEBR) Montserrat Daban, will feature top experts from the industry and clinical institutions, including Jean Marc Bourez, CEO of EIT Health; Mariano Vázquez, CEO of ELEM Biotech; Elina Drakvik, senior lead at Health Data 2030; Aenor Sawyer, director UC Space Health at the University of California, San Francisco; and Brad Ship, partner at Alira Health.
