Barcelona is hosting big international conferences in the sector in the first half of the year

Grab your calendars, the first half of 2024 is full of not to be missed events for the life sciences sector. In the first quarter of 2024 we have MWC and 4YFN 2024, this year with a clear commitment to digital health, and BIO-Europe Spring 2024, returning to Barcelona for the fourth time since 2010. In June, it’s RESI Europe 2024, which is coming to Europe for the first time and has chosen the Catalan capital to host its first conference.

There will also be lots of sector activities promoted by local stakeholders with an international focus (2023 BioRegion of Catalonia Report, Barcelona Health Innovation Week, Biotech CEO Summit, SLAS Europe 2024 Conference, and more) that you won’t want to miss. 
 

4YFN 2024: 10 years promoting startups in Barcelona

As part of Mobile World Congress Barcelona, 4YFN is kicking off its tenth year with a clear commitment to digital health. This event is once again putting the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Barcelona and Catalonia on the world stage from February 26 to 29, 2024. Over four days, the event will raise awareness of the most cutting edge startups in strategic areas like connectivity, digital health, fintech, blockchain, artificial intelligence, IoT, etc. There will also be conferences, debates, panel discussions, panels with opinion leaders and startups, and networking activities. An essential event for connecting with the global investment and entrepreneurship community.

This year will be the first time the different stakeholders that make up the health innovation ecosystem in Catalonia take part in the same pavilion. Biocat, with TIC Salut Social and in collaboration with ACCIÓ, Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS), the Barcelona City Council, the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), Unió Catalana d’Hospitals, the Catalan Health and Social Care Consortium (CSC) and the Catalan Association of Health Centers (ACES), will be spearheading the Catalonia Health Innovation Ecosystem Pavilion. The pavilion will host 12 startups from the life sciences presenting their innovative services and solutions.

BIO-Europe Spring 2024: fourth time in Barcelona since 2010

Barcelona will host BIO-Europe Spring, the spring edition of the most important partnering conference in Europe for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Promoted by Biocat, in collaboration with the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, the event will be held from March 18 to 20, 2024 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB). The BioRegion of Catalonia will have its own space at the center of the exhibition area.

In addition to an extensive program of specialized conferences, there will also be networking receptions in unique spaces around the city. The in person partnering meetings will take place during the conference held in Barcelona from March 18 to 20 and there will be online partnering meetings on March 26 and 27. RESI Europe 2024: first time in Europe and Barcelona has been chosen to host their first conference

The international conference Redefining Early Stage Investments (RESI), organized by Life Science Nation (LSN), will take place in Barcelona from June 17 to 19, 2024. This event aims to connect early stage startups and investors to forge strategic alliances. This is the first time this US conference will be been held in Europe and Barcelona has been chosen to host the event thanks to Biocat and the collaboration with the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council. 

The event will take place over three days: the first, June 17, will be in person with partnering meetings between startups and investors. Participants will also be able to attend conferences and workshops with speakers from the sector. The other two days, June 18 and 19, will be online.
