Biocat and Medicen Paris Region, a cluster that promotes innovative therapy and advanced technology in healthcare, have begun to collaborate to boost existing economic relations between the Paris Ile-de-France region and the BioRegion of Catalonia. Thus, both organizations hope to increase the opportunities generated in science and technical advances, as well as improving technological and industrial research and cooperation.
With this collaboration, the two regions are joining forces to promote and facilitate joint R&D activities and, specifically, industrial R&D projects among startups, SMEs, large corporations and organizations in Paris Ile-de-France and Catalonia. Furthermore, the partnership will help identify and approve national and international programs to support the joint industrial R&D projects and increase access to funding options.
Vice-president of the Ile-de-France Regional Council Stéphanie Von Euw, who is in charge of European affairs, highlighted that the Ile-de-France is home to 25% of all French research centers, "however we need more muscle and support from international partners such as Biocat in order to gain access to European projects."
Biocat CEO Albert Barberà pointed out that "what we want is to put this agreement into motion through a plan of specific actions that, among other goals, helps show the European Union the importance of the clusters working in research and entrepreneurship."
