2023 Report of Activities

Throughout 2023, Biocat has played a key role in prioritizing and advancing strategic national initiatives to enhance Catalonia's position in areas such as research, innovation, and future healthcare. Notably, Biocat has led the Innovation Access Program for the Catalonia Health System and the Advanced Therapies Network of Catalonia, both commissioned by the Government of Catalonia.

Additionally, Biocat has led both local and international activities to reaffirm the entity's and the BioRegion's leadership position in research, innovation, and healthcare. Several collaborations and actions have been undertaken to strengthen the international positioning and influence of the BioRegion beyond its borders. Biocat has been chosen as the coordinating or collaborating entity for various European projects and has hosted international fairs to provide visibility and networking opportunities for Catalan companies. This is reflected in the success of the BIOSPAIN edition in Barcelona, which set records and is expected to host the event again in future editions.

Additionally, Biocat has presented its new Strategic Plan for the 2024-2027 period to the Board of Trustees. This plan addresses the main challenges identified in the analysis and diagnostic process, such as the transformation of the Health System, business growth and consolidation, the implementation of new therapeutic strategies, talent attraction and development, and the international positioning of the BioRegion of Catalonia. This plan reinforces Biocat's essential role at this crucial time for the health ecosystem in Catalonia.
